Drew's How To Burn
MP3 CDs & DVDs Tutorial

Get 10 hours of MP3 audio on 1 CD with DAK's new MP3 CD burner. It's fast, easy to use and supports single files and folders too.

Plus back up your WAV & MP3 files to DVD discs.
Get 4 Gigs of your files safely stored on one 20 cent disc with the new DVD capable burner too. Plus this burner will record new Blue Ray Discs too.

The MP3 CD Writer Is An Added Option Of The Advanced Editor Version Only.

OK, I drive a 07 Corvette, 400 horse, great handling and Navigation too. I love the navigation. Ever since we were stuck in New Orleans during Ivan (which never hit) and had to escape to Memphis by driving back roads, I've sworn by navigation.

We never would have made it in the middle of the night on unlighted Mississippi back roads without the navigation. That's a story for another day. But, because of the navigation, my new Vette doesn't have a CD changer and it doesn't have an iPod or MP3 player plug in. Isn't that the pits.

So, what can you do? Well, the CD player does play MP3 CDs. So, now I can get 10 hours of my favorite tracks loaded on 1 disc and just swap discs for another 10 hours. Frankly that's more than the 12-disc changer I had in the last Vette.

So, that's why I've added this new IMPROVED MP3 and DVD burner to the DAK Wave Editor. I want you to have 10 hours of your favorite tracks in your car or portable too. Plus with folders, you can have your 10 hours per disc organized for the easiest song choosing ever.

How do you burn MP3 CDs and DVDs? Just load them in this burner program and hit Burn.

And remember, you can back up 4 Gigs of your Wav or MP3 files to a single 20 cent disc, so now you'll never risk losing any of your precious music ever again.

OK, Let's Get Started. . .

The Writer/Burner Main Screen
DAK's unique MP3 CD and DVD plus Blue Ray burner will make your CD burning fast and easy. It's super easy to use. And we've only put in the features you need to burn MP3 CDs to keep it fast and easy, and of course to provide flawless digital copies of your music on CDs and DVDs.

I've listed everything here for you in one place. Don't worry about all the numbers, it's super easy to use DAK's all new MP3 CD & DVD Burner PRO.

Here's what to do.

Arrow 1.) Choose the CD Drive you want to use. Many computers have more than one, so we've given you a choice here.

Arrow 2.) After you put in a blank CDR and your computer recognizes it, always hit refresh before making changes in the speed and pause or no pause choices you'll use to burn your CDs.

Arrow 3.)
Always burn your CD at 1/2 the maximum of what your writer will do if you can. I'm burning A DVD right now, so I'll choose 4X

Arrow 4.)
You can have the program Verify the burn after you burn if you have a super critical application, but frankly I've never found a problem so I don't bother.

Arrow 5.) Set Disc Label lets you name the disc so when you put it in your computer you'll see it's name.

Arrow 6.) Click this button to access the Windows Browser so you can go to get files to load.

Arrow 7.)
With this advanced burner you can burn whole folders of tracks and many cars and players can use the folder hierarchy to keep your tracks organized.

Arrow 8.)
Rename any file you are burning.

Arrow 9.)
Remove any highlighted track or file.

Arrow 10.)
Clear everything loaded in the burner.

Arrow 11.)
Here I'm just showing you a folder that is loaded right along with tracks.

Arrow 12.) Here I'm just showing you a track that is loaded right along with folders.

Arrow 13.) When you've got everything loaded in the burner, just click Burn to burn your CD, DVD or Blue Ray disc.

Arrow 14.) Click to close the burner.

That's it. Burning MP3 CDs, DVDs and Blue Ray Discs is all easy from now on.

IMPORTANT LOADING TIP- Always load a blank disc first so that the burning program can calculate how much space you've loaded and how much more you can load.

CD, DVD - How Much Space Do You Have? YOU HAVE LOTS.
MP3 CDs hold about 10 hours of MP3 files. It's awesome how much you can put on them. But they pale next to DVDs. You can put more than 6 times as much music on one DVD than you can on an MP3 CD. And on Blue Ray it can be even 5 times that or more. And the new DAK CD, DVD and Blue Ray Writer.

For the example below, I've used a DVD.

Arrow 1.) Gives you a graphic of how full the burner is.

Arrow 2.) Display's the total space used by the tracks/files/folders you've loaded.

Arrow 3.) Remaining free space.

Arrow 4.) Total disc space which is the total less what you've loaded.

Lots More Space - 8 Gigs Too.

I normally use standard 4.7 Gig DVDs but since our new burner handles Blue-Ray, I thought I'd try a dual-layer 8.5 Gig DVD and just like the programmer said, it worked perfectly. So now you can burn a full 8.5 Gigs on one disc of your MP3 files or of your Wav files so you can backup all your favorite music.

Set The Disc Name.
Now your discs won't be nameless. Now you can put a disc name on your discs so that when you put them in a drive they you will know what they are.

Arrow 1.) This is the Disc label.

Arrow 2.) Click this button to Type in your own.

Arrow 3.) Type your name here.

Arrow 4.) Click here.

Add Tracks To Your Session.
Just click the Add Files Button and you can add 1 file, several files or lots of files. You can load them in groups by sequence or random choice. See below.

Loading Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD (Add A Track)
It's really easy to put tracks into the program to burn a CD or DVD. There are 3 ways to do it. In this screen I'll show you how to load a single track.

You already clicked the Add Files/Tracks Button.

Arrow 1.) Navigate to the folder with the track(s) you want and click on the Track/File you want to burn.

Arrow 2.) Click the OK Button. It's really a Load Button, but Windows calls it open.

Just repeat this for each individual MP3 Track you want to load.

Putting Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD (ADD A Series Of Tracks)
What if you want to add more than 1 track. This is a standard Windows operation that lets you load as many tracks as you wish that are in a series. I mean that are next to each other like you see above.

You can add a few like I have shown above or every track in the folder by simply
HOLDING DOWN THE SHIFT KEY as you select tracks. So you can hold down the shift key and click one track then the next and the next and so on, or you can do it all with one click by clicking on only the 1st and last tracks you want to load. They will all turn blue and be loaded at once.

Arrow 1.) Click on each track or the 1st and last track of the series of tracks you want to load.

Arrow 2.) Click on the last track you want to load while holding down the shift key.

***URGENT TIP********URGENT TIP*****. There's an odd Windows thing that will mess up your track order when you load a group like this if you don't start at the bottom and end at the top of the group you are selecting. If you click the bottom 1st and the top last, it will load into the burner in exactly the order shown. But if you start from the top and click the bottom last, then the bottom track will be the 1st track in your loaded list and the rest of the tracks will be in normal order.

Arrow 3.) Click OK to load them all in the burner.

Putting Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD (Select Random Files)
OK again, this is a Windows thing. But what if you want to load 4 or 5 tracks that aren't together in a series? Simple, just HOLD DOWN THE CONTROL KEY and click on the tracks you want. This way you can select any tracks no matter what order they are in.

Arrow 1.) Hold down the Control Key on your keyboard and click on the tracks you want to load.

Arrow 2.) Click the OK Button to load them in the burner.

Add A Folder Of Tracks
Just click the Add Folder Button and you can add a folder.

Putting Tracks In Your Program So You Can burn Your CD (Add A Track)
It's really easy to add Folders of Tracks into the program to burn a CD.

Arrow 1.) Click on the folder you want to add.

Arrow 2.) Click OK.

Just repeat this for each individual folder you want to load.

Remove & Clear Tracks.
Want to remove a track or a few? Want to Clear the entire list?

Arrow 1.) Just highlight the track you want to remove.

Arrow 2.) Click the Remove Button to remove the selected track.

Arrow 3.) Want to clear all loaded tracks, Click the Clear button.

You Can ReName Tracks Too.
You can rename any file you like.

Arrow 1.) Just highlight the track you want to rename.

Arrow 2.) Click the Rename Button to rename the file you're going to burn.

Arrow 3.) Type in the new name.

Arrow 4.) Click OK.

Which CD Writer To Use?
Many computers today come with 2 CD writers. No problem. Just select the one you want, put in a CDR and burn. If that drive doesn't work for any reason, just select the next one.

Arrow 1.) Click on the pull down box and choose the writer you want.

Arrow 2.) Always click Refresh first before changing any of the settings like drive or speed.

Set Your Burn Speed & Refresh.
THIS IS IMPORTANT.

It's a rule of thumb. Home CD burners shouldn't run at full speed when burning audio or MP3 CDs. Portable and car CD players just aren't as accurate as we'd like so the industry has found that if you burn at 1/2 or less of the maximum burn speed of the CD writer in your computer your burned CDs are likely to play just about anywhere.

Arrow 1.) Choose a burn speed.

Arrow 2.) Always click Refresh first before changing any of the settings like drive or speed.
Arrow 3.) I'm just showing you that after you put in a blank disc and hit refresh, you'll be able to see how much room you have on the disc you are going to burn.

The Actual Burn Steps In Pictures.
OK the pictures say it all. Just click burn. Wait a few minutes for the burner to analyze what it's going to burn, and then it will start burning.

A few last things that I want to mention.

MP3 CDs are a real solution for carrying lots of tracks in a small footprint. They are very good for cars and portables when you can't or don't want to use an MP3 player. They are also very good for archiving lots of your tracks. I think adding this capability to the DAK WAV and MP3 Editor PRO is a big advantage for our cars, portables and archiving. And now with DVD capability too, you can store 4 plus gigs of your music on a single disc. So save your MP3s, back up your wave files. Either way, now you're protected.

Enjoy. . . Drew
